Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Andrew Harnik is an accomplished photojournalist who began his career in newspapers and magazines in 2003. In 2015, he joined the Associated Press, where he covered major political events and national news for nine years before recently transitioning to Getty Images.
Andrew has earned wide recognition for his work, receiving awards from the Photos of the Year International and recently being named as the National Photojournalist of the year for 2025 by the National Press Photographers Association’s Best of Photojournalism competition. He has also been honored by the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA) for 16 consecutive years, including the prestigious Political Photograph of the Year award in both 2012 and 2017.
Andrew—in addition to his role on the board of the White House Correspondents’ Association—serves as Vice President of the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA), helping to support and advocate for the photojournalism community in Washington and beyond.
He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and their daughter.
