Veronica Canales

The WHCA provides a grant of $5,000 a year to each of 4 students. One student represents them at the dinner.

Veronica Canales of Washington, D.C., is a junior studying Journalism and French. Veronica mentors first-year Latino students with La Familia at UMD. She also volunteers at the Capitol News Service Station on campus. She was a staff member of La Voz Latina, the only Latino-interest newspaper at UMD. She is interning at Seacrest Studios in Children’s National Medical Center where she works with all parts of the producing process. Veronica plans to continue producing throughout her career.
