Kat Tenbarge of Cincinnati receives a $4,000 grant plus a $1,000 grant from the school.
Kat is a junior majoring in Journalism and Environmental Studies and is the editor-in-chief of the New Political, a student publication. In 2017, Kat won a regional first place in news reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists for her coverage of the renaming of the Roger E. Ailes Newsroom at Ohio University. She also was a runner-up for her coverage of the 2016 election. She is interested in magazine writing and online news reporting that looks at art, politics and culture.
