Columbia University The grant is $5,000. Sarah Moawad of Boston, Massachusetts, is a graduate student. She is fluent in Arabic and has interned at Al Jazeera in Cairo and WBUR in Boston. She is the recipient of the Foreign Language & Area Studies Scholarship for Advanced Arabic study at Harvard University, and is also an Asian American Writers Workshop Open City Fellow. Sarah plans to be a documentary filmmaker focusing on underreported and misunderstood peoples and places in the Middle East.
